About the Role
We are seeking a hands‑on CNC Machine Shop Assistant to support day‑to‑day machining, fabrication, and shop operations. This role will assist machinists and engineers in producing precision components, maintaining equipment, organizing tooling, and ensuring the machine shop runs safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with CNC machine setup, loading raw materials, and preparing equipment for machining operations.
- Operate basic machine tools to support part fabrication.
- Perform part cleaning, deburring, surface preparation, and inspection tasks.
- Maintain shop documentation and work instructions.
- Collaborate with machinists and engineers on tooling and process adjustments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe machine shop environment.
- Support tooling organization, inventory, and calibration tracking.
- Assist with material flow and part handling for prototype and production work.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical machining training preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a machine shop or CNC environment.
- Familiarity with CNC mills, lathes, or manual machining tools.
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings and tolerances.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, and related measurement tools.
- Ability to follow work instructions and maintain process traceability.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs and perform repetitive tasks.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC mills or lathes under supervision.
- Familiarity with G‑code, CAM, or CNC control interfaces.
- Experience with precision inspection equipment.
- Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO9001.
